چکیده

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of object position in the working volume on the accuracy of 3D reconstruction, using four different camera calibration approaches: 1) the classical DLT, 2) the nonlinear DLT, 3) the 2D plate and 4) the wand calibration. The DVideo kinematic analysis system was used for underwater data acquisition. The system consisted of two gen-locked Basler cameras (100 Hz) enclosed in housings. A dynamic rigid bar test (acquisition volume 4.511.5 m) was used to obtain the accuracy of the 3D reconstruction. Larger errors were found using the classical and nonlinear DLT methods. Furthermore, these approaches were affected by the rigid body position in the working volume. In conclusion, 2D plate and wand calibration methods provided more accurate results and were not affected by object position in the volume.

Underwater 3D Surface Measurement Using Fringe Projection Based Scanning Devices

In this work we show the principle of optical 3D surface measurements based on the fringe projection technique for underwater applications. The challenges of underwater use of this technique are shown and discussed in comparison with the classical application. We describe an extended camera model which takes refraction effects into account as well as a proposal of an effective, low-effort calib...

Accuracy Improvement in Camera Calibration

Camera calibration is a necessary and critical step in 3D object analysis. The accuracy of calibration results will affect the object’s position in world coordinates, especially for 3D object tracking. In this paper, we present a new camera calibration approach, and discuss its accuracy. We use 3D marks instead of 2D marks for calibration. Our experimental results show that our approach has the...

Calibration Techniques for Accurate Measurements by Underwater Camera Systems

Calibration of a camera system is essential to ensure that image measurements result in accurate estimates of locations and dimensions within the object space. In the underwater environment, the calibration must implicitly or explicitly model and compensate for the refractive effects of waterproof housings and the water medium. This paper reviews the different approaches to the calibration of u...

Camera Self-Calibration in Underwater Environment

This paper presents a self-calibration technique for a camera mounted on an underwater vehicle designed to perform the 3D reconstruction of underwater scenes. Our aim is to identify the intrinsic parameters of the camera with methods that are adapted to the operational constraints on Ifremer’s underwater vehicles. The optical system is composed by a single vertical camera located below the unde...

Underwater Vehicle Motion Parameters Estimation Simulation and Experiment Based on Monocular Vision and Low Cost Inertial Measurement Unit

In this paper, authors proposed a practical motion estimation strategy to obtain the single static object position and the vehicle’s motion parameters simultaneously by utilizing camera and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), and tried several classic nonlinear parameters estimation methods on this problem based on the Matlab simulation. A lot of preliminary calibration experiments have been done ...
